OK Then - New Member, checking in

I have two books published - one of them a memoir about my eccentric family "Our Grandpa Was an Alien" which I wrote because people who liked the nostalgia bits that I had on the website "The Daily Brief" liked them so much. The second book I meant to be a historical novel set on the American frontier - which most everyone classifies as a Western (sigh)
- "To Truckee's Trail" ... so, what the heck. It's set in the old West, but it is oneof those splendid stories that no one has ever heard about. My third book started as an account of another spendid, exciting story set on the Texas frontier, but that one morphed into the "Adelsverein Trilogy", which will be coming out in December, 2008 through Strider-Nolan. One of my blog fans calls it "Barsetshire With Cypress Trees and Lots of Side-Arms" - it's about the German settlers who wound up in the Texas Hill Country, all of a piece and all 7,000 of them...

Never heard of that? I guess it's wide open for me to write about! Seriously, give me an opening and I will tell you more than you ever wanted to know. My website is www.celiahayes.com - there's a nice selection of essays and links there.

I am looking for readers, readers who want to re-discover the old west, and go a little farther than B-movies, old TV shows and tired cliches. Any suggestions?

Hi Celia.
Noting that your Grandpa was an Alien, I wrote of my grandfather too, and called his story, "Grandfather was a Bastard." I presume you knew of your grandfather; I did not know mine, thus I gave him a fictional story. You can't choose your relatives but in my case, I chose to add some color to the missing person. Welcome to the forum.
