| Dear Mrs ….
I am seeking representation for my completed urban thriller novel, Lawless Justice at 93,000words. I enclose three chapters and synopsis.
I sent the manuscript to Hillary Johnson’s Authors Advisory Service for review. To quote a line from the report, “You have chosen an unusual slant on current society and presented a powerful story in this novel.”
Lawless Justice is about a gang of female vigilante bikers. It is set in Northampton, in the Midlands, UK, present year.
Cass has left an abusive relationship. She‘s determined that no one is going to walk over her again. It’s time for revenge.
The women looked tough and had an attitude to match. It showed in the way they moved, the way they ruled the room. The fear and respect they created was intoxicating and Cass couldn’t help but stare. ‘What would it be like to have that kind of power, that kind of respect? What would it be like to wear that leather jacket?’
She finds the fear and respect she wants by becoming a member of the Kittnz, a notorious biker’s gang. By day, Cass is a journalist who works and lives in Rushden. By night, when the leathers go on, she becomes Ice, a member of a gang of vigilantes that run Northampton.
“Look, being a member of the Kittnz is like acting out a part in a movie. We put on a costume and play our scene. It doesn’t matter how outrageous we are, no one’s gonna put you down, they wouldn’t dare and the Kittnz know it’s all an act. When the movie is finished, we take off the costume, remove the make up, and go back to our normal lives, without guilt, without remorse.”
A new recruit to the police force doesn’t agree with his captain’s leniency towards the gang. After an incident in a nightclub involving Ice, he makes it his mission to violate the Kittnz at every opportunity.
Follow these women as they prowl their intended targets. The dangerous and violent episodes will leave you questioning whether their actions are serving the public. These are sexy, dangerous women you will love to hate.
I know from the feedback I’ve received on my self published novel, In Times of Violence, there’s certainly a market for this genre. Both sexes and even adults in their 80’s will enjoy Lawless Justice. Everyone wants to be a rebel once in their life.
I’m currently working on a sequel to In Times of Violence, and have outlines for further novels.
Under and Alone, staring Mel Gibson is currently in filming. This is a true story about an A.T.F infiltration of the Mongrels, an outlaw bikers’ gang. I’m certain this film will grab the public’s interest in this genre. I think it’s time that bad-boy rebel type fiction took to the shelves and screen again. I’m hoping Lawless Justice will have an impact similar to S.E.Hinton’s Outsiders.
I’m also working as a freelance journalist, and have had numerous articles, film reviews and book reviews published. My horror story Crossed, won first prize in an international speculative short-story competition. I’m a versatile writer with over thirty publications in all fiction genres.
Thank you so much for your precious time, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Regards,

| Karina,
Your manuscript sounds very interesting. The only comment I would make on your query, and I am no expert by any means, is that it would run to more than one page. Everything I've read implies that agents want three or four paragraphs at most. Also, before sending three chapters and a synopsis I would ensure that is what the agent you are querying wants. Some, I know, prefer just to have a query letter. If they are interested, they will contact you requesting a partial or full manuscript. _________________ Jenny Writing as Victoria Howard

| Hi Jenny
As I said in my reply to your query letter, The size and content changes depending on the agent I am sending the submission to. This includes adding synopsis and sample chapters.
I do a lot of research before sending out submissions.
Many thanks for taking the time to read it. _________________ Heads and Tales out now! http://www.lulu.com/karina-kantas |
