The CEO of the publisher of 'A Study in Red' has just accepted for publication the sequel to the novel, which currently has the working title of 'My Name is Jack'. Apparently, sales of the novel are going well, and he wants the follow-up whenever it's ready. As it consists of the title and an idea at present that might take a while, but, for an author, it's great to have a publisher who is ready to accept one's next work with a promise to publish already on the table. Boy, he must like my work, (and the sales figures).

Those who've read 'A Study in Red' might perhaps understand where the title comes from, those who haven't be warned, it's not quite as simple as that!

I'm dead chuffed!

Congratulations. Brain.

I think most publisher want the author to have another book ready, or at least for the author to have an idea for another.
They want to know that should the sales be good, that this isn't just a one off.

And yet all the "advisors" tell you not to mention sequels or queries when querying.

(I personally find that advice insane, but you hear it a lot)
