Why can't We Be Friends?

Why can’t we all just be friends?
Why can’t we live in a world of peace and harmony?
Why must we be in contention?
There must surly be a better way
Why can’t we all just be friends?
Why can’t the world unite as one?
Why can’t peace rein upon the earth?
Why must we fight for things here and gone before the blink of an eye?
Why can’t we all just be friends?
Why can’t we fill the world with joy and love?
Why can’t harmony rule the cosmos?
Why must we condemn the way we do?
There must surly be a better way
Why can’t we all just be friends?
For when the day is ended, we must stand as friends
For if we don’t we may fall alone
