Here's an interesting site featuring authors' self publishing experiences. The best of them end up saying here's what worked and here's what didn't work. It costs nothing to share your story and a bit of advice. You can't use your space to promote your book, but you can upload a picture of the cover and a website link:

Hi Malcolm,

I visited the site and submitted an article that is now on the site:

http://www.shared-self-publishing.com:80/dont-expect-selfpublishing-to-be-easy.html

It's an interesting concept and certainly made me think about my own self-publishing experience.

Wow! If you think you are doing enough to attract viewers to your website, read what Steve said about me and my efforts. He said I'm not doing enough. How do you compare with me?

I can guarantee you won't feel better after you've read it!

I don't compare with you in any way. That makes you the winner, I think.

OMG...there is much to do and so little time. What amazing feedback Shelagh--I've printed it off to do some contemplating, having one of those one book sites an' all.

Dick, you are incomparable.

Malcolm, there are a couple of comments on the article that you might find interesting.

Pam, Go to it girl! There's lots to do!

Yes, I too printed it out! As Pam said about contemplation and one book site.

I have a question. Where did you get all the stats about who visits your site? I have yet to put up a counter. (I can't figure it out for my site.) How else do you get them?

Thanks!

Statcounter is GREAT.

Start a free account and put the code on all your pages. (I'd strongly suggest you make it invisible, so visitors won't see it.)

It gives an extremely useful and comprehensive look at who came to your site, where from, what kind of underwear they have on and if they like bisquits.

You'll end up sitting around playing with it, mark my words.

Be sure to bookmark the page with your account so you can go check the stats.

And don't forget to bring your biscuits! Or maybe some chocolate chip cookies! Laughing

I love statcounter too, and it's also on my blog. You may find yourself with more info than you ever wanted Sue, which is okay because you'll also have all kinds of fun seeing where your visitors come from. If you forget to go look at your stats they even send you an email reminder with a teaser in it so that you go check it all out. It's a fun way to burn a little time with a cup of tea and one of those cookies!
