I've added a few words about Google search engines on best-children's-books.com linked to the site. Members here might find the information useful:

It's true. All the SEO and engine bait in the world won't do much for fiction.

NON-fiction is another story.

For that matter there is a big difference between traffic and conversion.

The more SE driven traffic I get on my site (around 300 visits a day) the less conversion I get.

Probably cause... people are putting "Mexican slang" into search engines looking for an online lexicon where they can quickly learn a little trash talk or figure out what the bus boys are saying about them.

As opposed to wanting to buy a book.

Forums, networks, niche directories, trading links, placing "link bait", even some webrings are much more effective for fiction.
