Shelagh,
Just reading the last few entries and Melinda's message got me wondering:

I know the differences between American English spelling and words and British English spelling and words

Is the book going to be edited with American spelling or British spelling? I'm just curious because as a Canadian, most of our spelling is the British form.

Just curious

Thanks!
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Spelling mistakes and typos will be corrected but spelling of English words that appear in a dictionary (American or Standard English) will not be changed. I will be sending out suggestions to contributors for them to accept or reject.

I will not be making any changes without contacting the contributors first. If the changes I suggest are unacceptable, they will be removed.

Most of the people here do not write non-fiction (other than the poetry). Am I correct on this? When you say you want stories, you mean just that: stories? Not a rendition on what friendship means to you or what friendship means. I have an 'article' that I am writing on friendship. It wouldn't be called a short story. So that is why I am wanting clarification on this. Thank you, Shelagh!

Could you put the information in the context of a story e.g. someone who met someone else on the net and wondered about the kind of friendship that was forming between them and found an advice website to learn about the different types of friendships and how to recognise them?

Yes, I can. That is what I needed to know. If you wanted it in actual story form.

The next question I have is: can it be a true story in story form so that the reader knows it is a true story? Or does it need to be fictional, based on a true story perhaps?

If you base the story on something that actually happened, be careful to change the characters themselves and not just their names (make a young girl into a middle-aged woman a fat person thin etc.)

Ok, thanks for the reminder. Just wanted to make sure it didn't have to be fiction per se.

Just make sure it contains at least one good murder. Two would be even better.

Hmm, Shelagh, I don't see the name "Watkins" on the list. How are you doing in terms of word counts and contributors. Do you need twice this much, a little more, or what?

Malcolm

I missed this first time round Malcolm! I reposted the list and saw your comment beneath it. I'm now on the list! With ten more short stories, the anthology will be nearing the size I had in mind. It has been hard work but I think the result will be worth it.

And here I thought the anthology was to be themed love and friendship, but if it's to be murder, I'll offer a different story that includes a body count of twenty-three at the end, seventeen murders and six killings--and those are not the same thing.

Reading about murder sometimes keeps one from committing one or several on your own!

Shelagh my story is in the works...just not anywhere near done yet. Not that I'll make you wait to the end of August, but realistically the first or second week of July would be about right. I am feeling the need to include a murder scene, but it doesn't really fit... Surprised

Love and friendship was the topic of the anthology
Beating hearts and good times, some bad times thrown in free
But there's something odd here, something I must have missed
For if a friend did murder me, methinks me would be p*ssed!
Friends are cool for sharing all the good times and the bad
But if a friend did murder me I know I would be mad!
They say death is another world I'd have to just come back
And haunt the Mother Mc'Flucker who made that uncouth attack!
I do not think that murder comes within the realm of friends
If a friend did murder me, it would drive me round the bend!
Love, Friendship and Murder, a triumvirate it be
Let's leave it as a duo, Love and Friendship that's for me!
