| Hi Shelagh, My poem is just getting tightened up-could I please get the email to send it to for consideration in the anthology, once it's completed. Also, I saw talk of a bio. Do we include that as well, or is that only if we're chosen to participate? Please let me know! Thanks!! Kelly _________________ ~Canadian Fantasy Author~ www.kellykomm.com |

| I know you mentioned earlier about wanting the book to be 100,000 words -- or something to that effect.
How many pages does that work out to be?

| The total number of words of the short stories received so far (not including the poems) is 35,632, which is approx 110 pages in a 6"x9" book. Although the guidelines were for 2,000-4,000 words, not everyone submitted work within these parameters. I expected this and set the word count low so that I wouldn't receive 10,000 word short stories. I did receive one with over 8,000 words, which I will have to split in two, to fit with all the other stories. I won't reject short stories over 4,000 words but 8,000 is really stretching things a bit! Same with the bio. Not everyone has kept within 30-40 words but at least they stayed uder 100 words! I will be making suggestions to changes that might improve work but if an author prefers the work to be printed as written (without spelling mistakes!) then that's the way it will be included. All contributors will receive a first draft of how their work will be presented. When I receive the okay, the work will be inserted into the anthology. I will then send out a proof of the work to be checked over. After I have received corrections from each contributor, the anthology will be given a final edit. I will be in contact with all contributors as the anthology progresses. _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/ |

Hey I know I'm left brain dead and math is a mystery to me how does 2-4,000 words equate to 8,000 in a person's mind! Is this a new kind of quantum mathematics? _________________ Welcome Earthlings http://fly.to/rainbow689 |

8,000 words! goodness, I don't feel so badly now about my 5,000-6,000 word epics
If you're willing to edit, I'm pretty sure I'll be willing to make changes (I know I'll give any editor's suggestion serious consideration). And I definitely want the spelling and punctuation checked; I can't tell you how many books I've read (even by the Pros) that had major spelling errors.
Thanks for the update

| Hi, Shelagh, I know you have one editor already, do you need any more? I've done editing before, I'm pretty good with English and spelling, I know the differences between American English spelling and words and British English spelling and words, and will make suggestions to improve the stories, if that is wanted. I also have some free time and could read/edit 2-3 subs a night. Let me know. --Melinda |

| Thanks Melinda! I will pencil you in with Jim. At the moment, I'm working on the layout for the book and will start to look at the already submitted work soon. I really appreciate the offer! _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/ |

| Shelagh, you'll be in big trouble if "A Dog's Best Friend" is edited after I send it to you. I will send it one of these days, I promise. _________________ Mystery Writers of America, Private Eye Writers of America www.dickstodghill.com |

| Shelagh, Just reading the last few entries and Melinda's message got me wondering:
| Quote: | | I know the differences between American English spelling and words and British English spelling and words |
Is the book going to be edited with American spelling or British spelling? I'm just curious because as a Canadian, most of our spelling is the British form.
Just curious

| If I was the editor, I would keep it as the author sent it; what I menat was, I wouldn't consider British/Canadian spelling 'wrong'
