| Any recommendations for good quality ebook publishers other than Lulu. I'm not too happy with the quality they offer and would like to see the book more professionally presented.

| George,
My own e-books were mostly published by Stonehedge Publishing. Unlke Lulu, they are an actual 'publisher' who charge their authors NO FEES as opposed to a printer and distributor. They sell their books through Fictionwise, Mobipocket, Amazon Kindle, Diesel E-books, Powells and many more online retailers, and pay the author 50% royalties.
Even bigger in the world of e-publishing is Double Dragon Publishing, who produced the paperback and e-book versions of 'A Study in Red'.
Take a look at http://www.fictionwise.com/eBooks/BrianLPortereBooks.htm?cache for some of my e-books currently on sale through Fictionwise as a result of publishing through these publishers. Bear in mind that these publishers will treat your book in the same way as a print publisher, and it will be subjected to a full submisssion process, and if accpeted it will be professionally edited and treated just the same as a print book in every respect.
Stonehedge are at www.stonehedgepublishing.com and DDP are at www.double-dragon-ebooks.com
Other good names in the world of e-publishing are e-Treasures, and Samhain Publishing.
Hope this helps.

| Glad you brought this up George. I received a request to write about how I self-published my latest novel and my article has been accepted. It should be on the website within a week. As soon as it is, I'll add a link on the forum.
I'm also going to set up another thread to discuss the pros and cons of POD publishing based not on my research but on my experience. My first book was published by PublishAmerica. My first poem was published in an anthology that is at the top of the best seller list on Lulu and my first short story was published in a Greek magazine sold on Lulu.
Based on the experience of two different publishers, I now have three Lulu books to compare with one PublishAmerica book.
Much has already been said about these two companies and I will be giving everyone a chance to say more! _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/ |

| | Thanks for the replies. In 20 years time I can see everyone having massive virtual libraries on their PCs, ipods, readers and cell phones. I think I'm going to embrace this change. |

| | Well, both Stonehedge and Double Dragon are both closed for submissions owing to high volume. Let's keep looking . . . |

| George,
Another good one is www.eternalpress.com.au I've had a couple published by them in the past. My short story trilogy 'Murder, Mayhem and Mexico' was published by Eternal and came 9th in the Preditors & Editors Readers Awards (anthologies category), in the recent voting.
Sorry that Double Dragon and Stonehedge are closed to subs just now, (shows how popular they are).
Best regards

| | Know something? I've had an idea. Well, it's not really a new idea, it's something that's been germinating in my heart for quite a few years. Perhaps it's time to make a move . . . |
