John McCain was in Canada campaigning on Canadian soil and indicating that we Canadians and Americans have great things to share...he does know that Canadians cannot vote for him, doesn't he??

Hard to say.

It's a classic confrontation: cipher vs psycho

I just saw a blurb about Obama and Bitchary co-operating for financing. He needs a war chest, obviously, and she wants to pay off her enormous campaign debt.

OK, apart from the "if they both have needs and money, why pool it?" question, I wonder about the fund-raising and contributions the piece mentioned.

Who the hell would give money to pay of the debt for a failed candidate???

What does THAT buy you?

Weird

I watched some of the politicat stuff when I was in the states. All the speculation concerning the candidates gets rather boring. It's still a long way to November, and in my opinion, I would make my move in the last 30 days. People will remember the most recent things - not what happened 6 months earlier.
Concerning the private donation thing: Until there is a law that will dictate fairness for each candidate, it will remain a "free for all" method of buying votes. Brain washing is enhanced by the media whether it is paid for advertising or disguised in some other way as with political analysis.

People expect the person in the White house to be sexless, attend the church of the people's choice, and give everyone who can cast a vote what they want. They prefer to vote for a Santa Claus who will send them a check of borrowed money so they can spend it on more things they don't need to stimulate more reckless spending. Some will not mind flushing more money down the toilet of Iraq while looking for a new toilet to flush.

Then there are those who seek someone who will do what's right for America - not what's right for special interest groups. Someone who views justice for all as something sacred. Someone who believes in the law of cause and effect and practices the "golden rule." Of course that's too simple and too idealistic.

Yes, Abe, I think you hit the mark. Our system is terribly haywire. There is dirt on everyone, so why dig it up and make such a big deal out of the little things? I could never run for office--I inhaled!

And there should definitely be a better system governing political campaign contributions. That would be a start.

Yes, I think (or at least I hope) most people realize that our bureaucracy is totally screwed up. Unfortunately, I think the only way to fix it is probably to rebuild the entire system from the beginning.

In the job market, once a person is in his late 50’s the chances for employment decreases. In the 60’s a person finds it very difficult to obtain employment – they are considered “over the hill.” Until recently, there was forcible retirement at 65 until the government increased that to age 70. Most term life insurance policies terminate at age 70 and for good reason. Mental and physical abilities diminish. How rapidly that occurs depends on the person.

The most demanding job in the world where a person is on call 24/7, is the office of US President. To put a person in that position at the age of 70 plus could be signing that person’s death warrant. Although a person 70 plus can make a good appearance with the proper rest and special formulated vitamins (or drugs), but can that be sustained? Can that person fulfill the everyday demands of the office or will someone else be doing the job?

Can someone serve in the military at age 70? What about the commander-in-chief?

Hey, I'm ready for the military again, Abe, but is the military ready for me? I might have to have a little help because if I bend down enough to dig a foxhole I won't be able to straighten up again. Can I take my rollator along on hikes? Will the cooks follow the dietician's instructions? On second thought, that doesn't matter because I don't follow them myself.
It looks like this macine gun has a powerful kick, doesn't it?

Dick,
I don't think they would be ready for you. You know too much.

It bothers me a lot , the mega millions each side is spending on the presidential campaign, almost as much as the outlandish promises rankle me that each side makes. Was it Thomas Jefferson who observed, "A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take it back from you?" Or something like that.
