| The author did all that was asked and now could not wait Manuscript in hand, query letter, etal he awaited his fate Now he stood in awe at the mighty golden publisher's gate He waited and waited, this delay would certainly make him late Once, twice three times he knocked with all of his might A small bespeckled woman answered that was half his height Who are you the author asked as he adjusted his sight I am the gatekeeper agent and to gain my favor is your first fight Go hone you craft before you come before me The author says how do you know about something until you see At that moment a starlet stumbled through the gate with glee The agent said that my friend is what pleases me Hold on, wasn't that person just in jail for a DUI Don't be negative, that will never fly Just then an author was usered out and told goodbye She didn't pave the streets with enough gold, she said with a sigh The author looked up and almost wanted to cry Then he spotted a familiar face, a fellow author from the inside waved hi Two months ago he was on the outside looking in He thought, I'm a better writer than he's ever been Gatekeeper, how did Sid get inside, he asked with a grin Oh Sid, I pardoned him from a special sin His own book, he produced and sold The nerve of someone so disrespectful and bold Then we saw that his "book" was taking hold So we decided we wanted some of that self-minted gold With our big presses we could print many thousands more With our distribution Sid's books would be seen shore to shore Sid gladly signed because he would have fans that would adore Besides the advance we gave him was at the floor

| Verily, and I thought "a snowball's chance" was referring to the 'other' gate...
Nice job, DT. _________________ Brew My website:http://www.philwhitley.com "Let us dare to read, think, speak and write." ~ John Adams, 1765 |
