| Pam, I only had time to skim, but am very impressed by your articles. I will have to return to do more in depth reading as time allows. _________________ Zada Connaway Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 and 3 ISBN # 1-4241-6969-0

| Pam, I am angry. There is just too much to read, absorb and comprehend. _________________ "To Beirut and Back" http://www.freewebs.com/abemarch |

| It's several hours since I made the last post. I read through the opening articles and I'll read the rest later because, as Abe pointed out, there's too much to read absorb and comprehend.
I found the opening articles informative and interesting. I could see clear reasons why it would be beneficial to manage anger in a positive way. I wondered if learning to be in control of one's anger would become automatic like riding a bike or driving a car. I suspect it wouldn't. There are different levels of anger and what makes one person angry doesn't phase someone else.
This is a quote from the opening chapter of The Power of Persuasion:
| Quote: |
..... Most of the letters on the Editor’s Page of the newspaper were sent in by readers motivated enough to write their own responses to mainly inaccurate reporting, but some wrote simply as a knee jerk reaction to a particularly barbed piece of writing – the kind penned by F. William D’Arcy. ..... One such feature on the food industry provoked a reader to send this reply to the newspaper:
..... Full marks: F. William D’Arcy’s ‘Food for the Masses’ proves that D’Arcy continues to ..... have the Midas touch for annoying absolutely everybody, reinforcing his position as ..... The Sunday Guardian’s most irritating and infuriating writer. D’Arcy has mastered ..... the fine art of provocative writing, thus ensuring that he is read. Congratulations ..... F. William. ..... ..... — Mohan Singh, Wolverhampton.
..... I remembered reading this chronicle of modern day food processing and found it very inoffensive. At the time, I thought it might hit a few raw nerves, but it certainly did not raise my blood pressure. I could remember previous bits of writing by D’Arcy that had amused and entertained me, knowing that they would be annoying the hell out of many readers. ..... This, of course, was part of the enjoyment.

Not one romantic novel has been written without anger being part of the plot: boy hates girl, girl loves boy; boy loves girl, girl hates boy; boy and girl hate each other until the last chapter: boy and girl love each other.
Seems that we need anger in our lives as long as we use it in a positive way. _________________ Shelagh Watkins http://shelaghwatkins.co.uk/

| Hey I agree with you guys that it's a lot (you should have seen me write it; one of those courses that makes my eyes bleed). My novel has great anger throughout it too - interesting note Shelagh how it makes a part of so many books (then again a story can be pretty dry without some kind of conflcit). I took it really far and actually killed off someone. My first husband saw something of himself in that character however, so he was really ANGRY that he ended up dead. I told him to lighten up!! Some people just hold so much anger. I try to be positive about mine (not always possible), and then other times I console myself with chocolate.
Thanks for checking it out and for your feedback! _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |

| What a fantastic article, Pam. Thank you. If I hadn't already been impressed by your knowledge and abilties, I would be now.
Since I'm still under some time pressure, I skimmed the article, but will read carefully later. I think it will help some of us, especially me, who still can't handle anger.
Thanks again! _________________ www.brendahill.com www.authorsden.com/brendahill www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro |

| Yes, it's a lot of info, Pam, but it's info that can truly help. Thanks so much for sharing.
I tell you, I go along just dandy, then suddenly I feel slammed. Except for jury duty, the past month or so has been full of good things, but they're all demanding of my time and energy, and it'll be that way for another week or two. Then, I can relax and get back to my normal schedule--at least that's what I'm hoping. But I'm well, my loved ones are well, so that's the most important thing.
So how are you? _________________ www.brendahill.com www.authorsden.com/brendahill www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cu6YeS9_Ro |

| Brenda I am doing great! My days (and evenings) seem to be full of the things I love right now, so it makes the dregs easier to tolerate.
I do think that sometimes I should figure out a normal schedule, then I get going on things and sucked down the rabbit hole again only to find I was never on schedule anyway. But, as with you, I'm well, my loved ones are well. That and being in the midst of reading a good book (and writing what I hope will be another good book) really feels great! _________________ Pam Robertson http://andthebandplayedonmylawn.blogspot.com |
