Hi does anyone know the editing in Microsoft Word that uses the "red" lines to mark changes in manuscripts and normal documents? Also does this program mark changes automatically for you or do you have to input the changes in the manuscipt yourself? Thanks for your help.

You need to go to options of prefrences in the spell check and then decide what you want the program to check for when it comes to grammar and spelling.

Zelman I think that you are referring to the "track changes" feature in word...if you "turn it on" (open your document, then click "tools" and select "track changes", then any correction that you make is highlighted in red. That way you can edit a document, send it to someone else and they will see what changes you made. If they like what you suggest, they right click in the "red area" and select "accept change". If they don't like it, they can "reject" it the same way.
Does that help?

Yep, sounds like the "track changes" feature in Word. You can go in and change the colors around so that your edits are one color and someone elses edits are another color. Pretty handy.

I don't know about Zelman, but all this sure has confused me. Think I'll let well enough alone.
