March 30th 2008 Newsletter The Published Authors Forum was set up on January 11th 2008 as an additional meeting place for members of the Ning social network, Published Authors. The Published Authors Network was created by Shelagh Watkins on August 5th 2007.  Currently, there are 374 members of the network and 1,809 invites have been sent out since the network was created. The Published Authors Forum has 129 members and 463 invites have been sent out to members of Ning social networks since the forum was set up. How to use the Forum The forum has many features to help members make the most of their visits. How to change your settings All your settings (if you are registered) are stored in the database. To alter them click the Profile link (shown at the top of pages on the navigation bar). This will allow you to change all your settings.   How to show an image below your username There may be two images below a username when viewing posts. The first is an image associated with your rank; generally these take the form of stars or blocks indicating how many posts you have made or your status on the forums. Below this may be a larger image known as an avatar; this is generally unique or personal to each user. To upload an image, click the Profile link. How to add a signature to your post To add a signature to a post you must first create one; this is done via your profile. Once created you can check the Add Signature box on the posting form to add your signature. You can also add a signature by default to all your posts by checking the appropriate radio box in your profile. You can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box on the posting form. If you registered in the past but cannot log in anymore The most likely reasons for this are: you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered) or the administrator has deleted your account for some reason. If it is the latter case then perhaps you did not post anything? It is usual for boards to periodically remove users who have not posted anything so as to reduce the size of the database. Try registering again and get involved in discussions. The Gallery The Book Covers Album in The Gallery has 119 book covers, some of which were posted by members who have actively contributed to the board, while some were added by members who have yet to make a single post . Two members, Rowena Cherry and Jenny Woodall, bought extra space to enable members to add book covers and to allow members to set up personal photo albums. On behalf of all the members of the forum, I would like to thank Jenny and Rowena for the kind donations that have helped to improve the forum. Board Statistics Statistics for all the boards on the forum can be viewed by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page: Statistics   Forum Directory The Published Authors Forum is fourth in the list of forums in the category Art, Culture and Leisures, Literature, Poetry  Free forum : Published Authors   The camera icon is a link to the gallery. This icon only shows after payment has been received for added space to the Gallery. Out of the twenty-five forums listed in this category, only one forum, Free Forum: Published Authors has this icon attached. Out of curiosity, many visitors to this page will click on the icon and pull up the book covers! New to the Forum New members of the forum, who would like to see only the posts made since they joined, should click on the link "Mark all forums read". The new posts icon:      will be replaced by the no new posts icon: Next time members visit the forum, the new posts icons will show up. If a member wishes to chat with another member online, send a private message and invite the member to join the ChatBox [ Join the Chat ] or arrange a time to meet on the forum to chat. Featured member From time to time, a forum member will become a Featured Member. Comments can be added to the page but will appear on the forum on the Feaured Members Board.
